Wilson Nature Preserve Grand Opening
The Clermont County Park District will be celebrating the opening of its newest nature preserve, the James L. and Frances Wilson Nature Preserve. The dedication ceremony will take place on Friday October 16th at 11:30 am at the entrane to the nature preserve, which can be accessed through Sycamore Park. To enter the preserve visitors can park in the adjacent Sycamore Park and follow the hiking trail across the bridge. The preserve entrance is approximately 1/4 miles from the parking lot.
The 105 acre nature preserve sits adjacent to the 53 acre
Sycamore Park
, bringing the total acreage to 158 acres and making it the largest park within the Clermont County Park District. The land was purchased at the end of 2008 using an $800,000 Clean Ohio Fund Grant. Highlights of the new nature preserve include three miles of hiking trails, scenic views of the East Fork of the Little Miami River, and a 25 acre island. The new preserve will make a wonderful addition to the Clermont County Park District, and make an excellent location for hikers, bird watchers and nature enthusiasts.
The public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony and enjoy light refreshments afterward. The trails will be open to the public, and hiking
trail maps
will be available. For more information please call the Park District administrative office at 513.732.2977.
